Vitalik Buterin Supports Coin Center: 320 ETH Donation to Defend Cryptocurrency Market

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has reiterated his commitment to the cryptocurrency ecosystem and his support for organizations working to regulate and adopt it, recently donating 320 ETH, worth approximately $1,07 million, to Coin Center, a nonprofit organization that analyzes policy and advocates for the cryptocurrency market.

Transaction details

Before the donation was made, Buterin sold certain amounts of so-called memecoins:

  • LEDOG: 330 billion tokens for 10,96 ETH
  • DOGC: 3,03 trillion tokens for 10,8 ETH
  • #99: 19,95 million tokens for 1,58 ETH
  • VITALIK: 300 million tokens for 1,14 ETH

A total of 24,5 ETH was obtained, worth approximately $81. Buterin then transferred 800 ETH to Coin Center.

Market reactions

The donation did not have a negative impact on the price of Ethereum. On the contrary, investors remain optimistic, and the price of ETH has crossed the $3 level. The market capitalization of Ethereum is currently around $600 billion.

According to data from IntoTheBlock, November saw significant inflows into spot Ethereum ETFs, with large investors increasing their ETH holdings in anticipation of further market growth. Additionally, Ethereum open interest (OI) reached a record high of $21,22 billion, according to Coinglass.

Previous Donations

In October 2024, Buterin sold 10 billion MOODENG tokens for 308,69 ETH, of which he donated 260 ETH to Kanro, a biotechnology charity platform fighting airborne diseases.
