Company Blockchains LLC recently announced to the world her unusual idea - she intends to build smart city cryptocurrency in the Nevada desert. It is supposed to be a fully independent city with its own government, courts as well the tax system. It is supposed to function on the basis of technology blockchain. State regulators are quite sympathetic to the idea Blockchains LLCalthough there are also voices of opposition.
The construction of the cryptocurrency smart city is to start next year
Blockchains LLC is a blockchain incubator and investment company. Its CEO, Jeffey Berns, came up with an intriguing idea to build a cryptocurrency smart city in the Nevada desert.
Work on its construction is to begin this year. The land on which the investment is to be built was purchased in 2018. Its area is 217 square kilometers. Berns said in one of the interviews that he asked the authorities of the state of Nevada for permission to create an autonomous self-government for his cryptocurrency smart city.
It would have exactly the same powers as the counties. If the legislator agrees to implement such a solution, then in the city created by Blockchains LLC, not only payments in kryptowalutach, but also operate separate judicial and tax systems.
Burns would like to start building a smart city in 2022. As he argues, over 75 years, up to 15 houses may be built on the purchased land. However, in real terms, this number may be reduced to 000, due to the fact that so far most of the land acquired by the company has not been approved for the construction of residential buildings. In addition, the cryptocurrency smart city will have its own e-sports arena, a creation studio, and a campus.
Nevada authorities split over the project
Although the cryptocurrency smart city in the Nevada desert seems to be a truly futuristic idea, the state authorities are quite enthusiastic about it. In January, Governor Steve Sisolak argued in his speech, for example, that Blockchains LLC will turn Nevada into the "epicenter of an emerging industry",
creating new, well-paid jobs. On the other hand, however, there are also voices of opposition. Opponents of the creation of a cryptocurrency town believe that its creation and the creation of an autonomous self-government for it may contribute to increasing control of social life by technology companies. Berns, in turn, believes that the current legislation and traditional methods of governance are not conducive to the full use of the potential of blockchain. Therefore, it wants to create a space where people will be able to take full advantage of the opportunities that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology hide.
