A daring attack by hackers with a positive result, they managed to infect around 700.000 websites, all only to infect one website and steal an unknown amount of Bitcoins.

The main hacker plan was based on the infection of a large site StatCounter, which is one of the most popular websites analyzing Internet traffic, just like Google Analytics.

Hackers have been able to modify the code on the site StatCounter, the webmaster who uses this site to add statistics to his website must add the appropriate script that automatically generates the StatCounter page, hackers have just managed to modify this piece of code and have already gone downhill. 688 thousands of pages began to load infected code.

The attack consisted in the fact that while using the website payout address Bitcoin he was automatically changed to an address controlled by Hackers!

It is not known how long this procedure lasts, and how many people are affected. The whole matter saw the light daily thanks to the Czech company ESETwhich deals with cybersecurity. The case is developmental, so far it is difficult to assess the damage due to the fact that the false addresses that appeared during withdrawals changed each time and the funds are dispersed over a large number of addresses.
