Cryptocurrencies are becoming an increasingly popular means of payment in many countries around the world. As a result, the number of ATMs serving them is also growing. Currently, there are over 24 of them.
Over 24 cryptocurrency ATMs around the world
According to the data provided by the CoinATMRadar service since the beginning of this year, the number of ATMs from bitcoins and cryptocurrencies increased from 13 to 993 (an increase of 24%). Last year, the increase was as high as 030%. Estimates show that around 71,73 new ATMs were installed daily.
ATMs that support cryptocurrencies are already present in 75 countries around the world. Most of them, as many as 21, are located in the United States. Canada is second in terms of the number (161 ATMs) and the United Kingdom is third (1698 ATMs).
Bitcoin Depot is a leader among cryptocurrency ATM operators
There are currently 42 producers of cryptocurrency ATMs on the market, the most important of which are Genesis Coin and general bytes. The largest operator of cryptocurrency ATMs is currently Bitcoin Depot stationed in Atlanta, which has as many as 3793 devices enabling users to purchase over 30 types of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ether, and Litecoin.
The second leading operator is Coin Cloud serving 2629 cryptocurrency ATMs, followed by Coinflip with 2498 ATMs.
Collaboration with celebrities and famous brands
Recently, several operators have established cooperation with famous people, which is aimed at the effective promotion of ATMs with cryptocurrencies. For example, Coin Cloud teamed up with filmmaker Spik Lee, which resulted in a movie called "The Currency of Currency." Coinflip, in turn, engaged the actor and bitcoin investor Neil Patrick Harris in its marketing campaign.
Bitcoin Depot, on the other hand, has started joint activities with the fuel sales company Circle K. As a result of this partnership, more than 700 cryptocurrency ATMs were installed in Cirkle stores in the United States and Canada.
The importance of cryptocurrency ATMs is gradually increasing. Thanks to them, customers can exchange traditional currencies for digital currencies. In this way, cryptocurrencies are spreading on a mass scale.
